Return to Elite Dangerous (T.16000M HOTAS Controls)

I can't settle on a single game these days.  The urge to return to Elite Dangerous is growing on me now.  Oolite was fun, but the more I played, the more Elite Dangerous kept coming to mind.

Got a lot of projects going on, including trying to save as much as possible from my hard drives, which are all trying to fail at the same time.

Whenever it's time to replace my computer, I always take the hard drives out.  For security, because I then sell the old computer; but also for storage space moving forward.  At least one of these drives is from 3 or 4 computers ago, maybe 2010 or 2011.  The most-used one has 18,000 hours of use logged.

While that's worked well overall, it's coming back to bite me now.  There are 5 drives on the newest computer, and the only one that's still working reliably is the small 2T internal C: drive.

While trying to rescue data from dying hard drives, I ran across my old Elite Dangerous control guide for the Thrustmaster T.16000M throttle and stick.  Also found the bindings, and the Voice Attack files.

This control guide combines inputs from both.  It also has controls for playing music, and activating a small graphic via external software while in-game.  I quit playing in 2021, and this is a different computer, so it might not be worthwhile trying to recreate the software and playlist setup.  I'll have to play with it to decide if it's worth the effort.

Anyway, long way around the corral, just to say... here's the controls graphic.  This is my setup, and if worst comes to worst, I can re-create the bindings and the Voice Attack profile, as long as I don't lose this graphic to a hard drive crash.

Oolite (Tribute to the Original Elite from 1984)

I know, I don't stick with a single game any more, and rarely ever get deeply involved with any games.

Too many to play, not enough time to play, and Covid brain fog for the last three years has really put a crimp in my plans.

That's not going to change any time soon, but today, I wanted to post a couple of jpg images that will help me learn another game.  One that I might stick with for a while, if I can get the hang of it.  Better odds than usual, since this based on a game from the 1980's that I was addicted to for many years... Elite.  The original Elite, though I've played Elite Dangerous in the past as well.

This one's called Oolite, and it's a dedicated tribute to the glory of the original Elite.  I'm just beginning to set  the joystick controls up, and start learning the commands.  These are a map of my Thrustmaster T16000M stick and throttle, using the games built-in controller screen.

In a pinch, I can use Voice Attack for a far more sophisticated layout, but this seems to cover the main "stick" commands I want.  So attached here is my layout, plus the first page of the guide that comes with the game (which is totally free, by the way).  Between these two, I should have a quick reference to anything I may need.
